Chill out with yoga and cocktails on this small island resort off the west coast of Croatia’s western coast. Obonjan opened in 2016 and is at the forefront of sustainable tourism. The idyllic hideaway, covered in pine forest and olive groves, is reached by speedboat or ferry from the city of Šibenik (following a flight to Split). It might only be 1.5km long and 530m wide but with a maximum of 500 guests on the island and everything from accommodation to restaurants and nightlife in situ, there is always plenty of space to reflect, relax and - most importantly - party.
'Yoga, cocktails, top DJs and luxury glamping are the order of the day on this gorgeous island retreat'
For serious comfort check into one of the island’s spacious Bell Tents, all set on their own wooden terrace base for increased stability and that all-important standing height. None of the luxury camping essentials are forgotten, including the air conditioning, plugs and USB points, single or double beds and modern shower and toilet facilities.
The boutique Forest Lodges, which are also fully furnished and air conditioned, have en-suite shower rooms, a private terrace (so you can kick back in the shade), power sockets, lighting, a fridge and that precious camping commodity—a hair dryer.
For an even more exclusive stay, book your group into ‘Camp Hox’. These tents have interiors designed by the team behind the trendy Shoreditch hotel.
When night falls, stargaze and dine under the pine trees at one of the island’s seven restaurants. Drift over to the island’s stone amphitheatre to hear a band, watch a film or enjoy some stand-up comedy. Obonjan is all the things you love in one place.
'Stargaze and dine under the pine trees.'
At Drift, on the East Harbour, you can get ice cold cocktails, craft beers, wine and soft drinks delivered straight to your waterfront sun lounger, whilst a DJ soundtracks your day.
Prizing strong links to local producers and organic farmers, Obonjan has several restaurants and bars. Independent Croatian burger joint, ‘Submarine Burger’ makes all‑natural, homemade gourmet burgers. ‘BOK’, serves seasonal seafood, meat and vegetarian specials for lunch and dinner, there’s Sri‑Lankan spiced-delights at the ‘Curry Bowl’, posh pizzas at ‘Pizza Pavillion’ and for seriously healthy nourishment, head to the ‘Green Bar’, which serves juices, salads, raw bars, as well as gluten-free and vegan options. Or if none of that tickles your fancy - try the daily specials at The Kitchen and Pool!
